EXPLORING OUR ROOTS, INNOVATING WITH PASSION

During the gold rush of 1865-1900 thousands of Chinese people came to New Zealand. All over the country, but especially in Otago, evidence of their presence remains.
The wines of the Prospectors’ Wine Company, founded by modern-day passionate China Girl Jing Song, pay homage to these courageous Chinese prospectors.

The journey of exploration and innovation continues in Jing’s desire and passion to find, and then combine, all the elements involved in the winemaking and creative processes to offer a sense of place and a nod to her roots, and to build a truly meaningful portfolio.

Moved by passion, a desire to innovate, and an unquenching love of wine, Jing partners with her favourite winemakers and searches for the best land to give birth to her vision and produce very special New Zealand wines.

CHINA GIRL

CHINA GIRL PINOT NOIR 2017
Winemaker: Grant Taylor
Vineyard: Central Otago: Bendigo, Bannockburn, Gibbston
Alc: 13.5%
“Beautiful garnet hue leads to aromas of cherry, blackberry, cinnamon, mocha and mushroom. The fruit and spice interplay is intriguing and perfectly balanced. The palate is silky with voluminous fine tannin that builds with the wine ending son an elegant note courtesy of wonderful cool climate acidity. The fruit and spice aromas on the palate mirror those found on the nose. This wine is both powerful and classy and deceptively drinkable! Seductive as a young wine, the balance of fine tannin and apt acidity are the hallmarks of a wine that will age gracefully.”
Awards: London IWC Double Trophy Pinot Noir 2017
